HAS THERE BEEN ANY PROGRESS AS A RESULT OF CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT?

A commentary by Hon. Don Pomb Polye, CMG, MBA, MP

Let me first send my LOVE and POSITIVE ENERGY to all PNGeans. My sincere GOOD WILL and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE to the present Prime Minister , Hon James Marape, Former Prime Ministers, those Aspirants for the Position Of Prime Minister, Ministers and those aspirants to become Ministers and all other citizens.

I state the following points HUMBLY for one's logical assessment.

1. I am of the firm opinion that politics and the competition for political power and rivalry for leadership have DISSIPATED much of the country's energy, resourcefulness, and wisdom.

Political powerplay has eaten into education, health, power, water, businesses, family, tribes, enthinicity, and common sense!

Politics has displaced common logic in PNG.

The CONSEQUENCE, I have seen, in my opinion, is HATE , HATE, HATE,and more HATE in PNG, which has engulfed a better part of PNG's populace's mindset! That hate to me has created poverty and destruction.!

At present , that inclination is still strong. UNLESS we start to introduce a revolutionary mindset change !

OUR former and current Prime Ministers will agree with me that to become a Prime Minister and to retain the position of Prime Ministership in PNG is highly costly !

Therefore, has there been any significant progress as a result of the change of a government???

No, not that I am aware of. In fact, to be honest , it is very difficult to ascertain if there ever has been any transformational improvement because almost all changes have caused instability most of the time.

For instance, NA Governement under the late GC Sir Michael led PNG to enjoy 9 to 10 years of governance that gave PNG stable macroeconomic stability! The PNC led government caused a change of government that caused much uncertainty and borrowed HUGE unhealthy LOANS that created an economic vacuum! The present PANGU government finds it challenging to repay the exorbitant loans whilst SIMULTANEOUSLY endeavours to deliver well-being and service for the people of PNG

I tried to remove the PNC government by a VONC, but I failed two times. Sometimes, moving a VONC against a government is NOT as easy as one might think.

I THOUGHT I REPRESENTED GOOD AND GENUINE LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES, TO CHANGE GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH ONE BETTER ... BUT MY COLLEAGUES at that time DID NOT THINK at the same wavelength as I did so that I could not be voted as Prime Minister.

At present, there is ONLY ONE PERSON who stands out clearly as the Prime Minister, and that is the MEMBER FOR TARI PORI, HON JAMES MARAPE MP.

HE IS NOT PERFECT BUT DOING HIS HEARTY HONEST BEST!

2 . I am AWARE through MEDIA of some witness statements made by some witnesses in the PARAKA ... FRAUD matter before court.

I have been quirried by the media, but I *CAN NOT* make any statement as it is SUB-JUDICIA, meaning it's before court, and I am not able to make any comment in RESPECT and HONOUR to the court. Besides, I am NOT AWARE of evidence presented as I am not a party to the case, so I can not make any comment only to satisfy media appetite!

To the curious and corruption fighters , I urge you all to think, say, or act in unconditional love for one another, and common peace, happiness, and prosperity for all!!!

There is so much hate in PNG that must be erased, and love and peace be established.

There are many negative emotions that I URGE the whole nation to cleanse itself from by evoking peace in their minds to think clearly.

Let's keep the political stability and sanity.

May the mindset of PNG change!

AFRICAN AMERICAN FIRSTS - MOSES FLEETWOOD WALKER (1857-1924)

Moses Fleetwood Walker, often called Fleet, was the first African American to play major league baseball in the nineteenth century. Born October 7, 1857, in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, Walker was the fifth of six children born to parents, Dr. Moses W. Walker, a physician, and Caroline Walker, a midwife. Oberlin College admitted Walker for the fall 1878 semester. In 1881, he played in all five games of the new varsity baseball team at Oberlin. Before the end of the year, however, Walker left Oberlin to play baseball for the University of Michigan. In July 1882, Walker married Bella Taylor and the couple had three children. Fleetwood Walker was able to earn money as a catcher. He played individual games for the White Sewing Machine Company of Cleveland (August 1881), the New Castle (Pennsylvania) Neshannocks (1882), and with the Toledo Blue Stockings of the Northwestern League (1883). In August 1883, Adrian “Cap” Anson, manager of the Chicago (Illinois) White Stockings, stated his

Half of all U.S. states, specifically 25, have names that originate from Native American languages

Half of all U.S. states, specifically 25, have names that originate from Native American languages or have Native American origins. These names reflect the rich history and cultural heritage of the Indigenous peoples who inhabited these lands before European colonization. The states with Native American names include: 1. Alabama - Derived from the Alabama tribe, a Muskogean-speaking people. 2. Alaska - Derived from the Aleut word "alaxsxaq" or "agunalaksh," meaning "the mainland" or "great land." 3. Arizona - Derived from the O'odham word "Alฤญ แนฃonak," meaning "small spring" or "place of the small spring." 4. Arkansas - Derived from the French interpretation of the name given to the Quapaw people, a tribe living along the Arkansas River. 5. R.L. BURNSIDE (1926-2005) was a charismatic singer and guitarist

R.L. BURNSIDE (1926-2005) was a charismatic singer and guitarist, in the deepest Mississippi Hill Country tradition.  He learned and was greatly influenced by Fred McDowell, and also played in the style of John Lee Hooker. A lot happened in his 78 years. He was first recorded in 1967 by George Mitchell, and went on to make several records for various European labels.  Later in his life, in the 1990s, he was crossover hit with his recordings on the Fat Possum label, with his own band and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. A farmer, fisherman, and family man, he had many children, several of which played music. I met him in the early 1990s, he was very kind, and funny, known for his toasts and jokes as well as his hypnotic, trance-inducing style.
